Donna Wilson
Donna Wilson/ Textile Artist and Designer
Born in a small countryside northeast of Scotland, Donna grew up in nature, scenery and a warm family. Since creating his first knitted stitches in 2002, when he studied at the RCA Royal College of Art in the UK, which is said to be the world's finest art university, he has expanded his range of creative activities, including strange figures, fun apparel, and original furniture, and has been sharing it with the world. He is currently based in London.
Wear a special knit.
These Donna sweaters are inspired by the Fair Isle, a traditional classic pattern that has been knitted in the UK for over 400 years, and are characterized by colorful colors and geometric motifs. Made from 100% of Scotland's finest lamb wool, it is softer and softer to the touch and warmth than wool. Pair it with a scarf or gloves made from 100% lamb wool, and you'll have a look that no one else can imitate!
Creature
It's a living thing.
A mysterious creature made from knits, called "creatures." This is Donna's first work and is a representative item that made her famous overnight. When I was a child, everyone had it and couldn't let go. Donna still keeps forgetting things that you will forget when you grow up, and is the one who will still make them. So the moment we see Donna's creature, we feel joy and nostalgia, like finding something lost. Donna calls them "friends." Every creature is handcrafted one by one. The fact that no one is the same size or facial expression is a sign of life.

Look at the forest and the sky.
Donna, who lived on a rural farm when she was a child, still loves to interact with nature. The reason she feels life and earth in the products she creates is because "nature" has always existed within her. Her "cushions" come in a variety of colors and shapes, and the moment you place them there, they add an organic accent to your interior and blend in with them. Unique items that will make your time at home more enjoyable will accent our very lives. Donna's unique textile designs are also worth paying attention to, as she loves to enjoy lamb wool in unusual color combinations.
Scarves and gloves
It warms from the heart.
This knit item is an essential winter knit item made from natural "tears" made from Scotland's finest lamb wool. For Donna, who is from Scotland, it is like a mission to use the high-quality knits she has been used to in her own products. Lamb wool is softer and softer than wool, and is light and very warm on the skin. If her magic is applied there, you'll get a burst of knit. It is also recommended to try out her vivid color scheme as a fashion accessory first. It's great to coordinate with parents and children with this extremely cute kids' item.
Until the work is created
Starting with making natural "twill thread" from lamb wool, samples are made based on designs designed by Donna using a computer program. Then the color is matched, knit the knitting machine and sew it. Some products require a large number of items to be requested by the factory, but the knits that are the source of the creatures are still woven in this studio.
All processes, from washing, ironing, cutting, and filling, are done by hand by women working in this studio, so the creature's eyes and nose embroidery and sewing style also reveal their individuality. You can see who sews it by looking at the finished work!
Donna's studio is always filled with happy women's smiles.
Donna's worldview
Inspired by the nature and scenery of her hometown, Scotland, Donna's work always has life. The words "nature" and "eco" that have always existed within her seem to teach us something important through her products.
The beginning of Donna and Tonkachi
The representative of Tonkachi was not aware that he would be working with Donna in 10 years, and was carrying Donna's koala stuffed toy, Wilbur-kun, which he was soothed by her self. When I first talked to Donna, when I told her that, she looked very happy and asked, "Where did you buy it?"
Eventually, she ended up working with Donna, and she sent me business materials summarizing her past activities. As expected, the comprehensive materials that can only be found by a career artist, and as I was feeling a little nervous, Donna's message said, "Please look forward to it from now on." Next to him, Wilbur was standing there. That's this photo.
First, you start to fall in love with us, and the other person turns to you, and all love in the name of "business" begins. But business tends to forget that it started with love. But when we see Wilbur, we never forget about love. That's how my work with Donna began.
Wilbur is not currently being produced, but I hope I can introduce it again someday.
