[I asked Donna]

I wanted to know more about Donna's knit, so I caught a busy Donna and made a microin tongue.

● Please tell me how this sweater is made.

Sweater design is usually performed about one year before its release. With the assistant Lotty, our ideas and related materials are put together in a mood board ( *), and then the design. Many of my designs are inspired by the motifs and colors of Scotland's traditional fair ale ( *), and are updated to my private style. For example, this year's "Big Stitch" is a bright and modern color that literally expands the design of Fair Isle.

* Moodboard (English: Mood Board)
The ideas and concepts that are commonly used in the field of fashion and graphic design are compiled into paper and apps.

* Fair Isle
A traditional pattern with a history of more than 400 years, which originated in Fair Island, a Shetland Islands, called the Shetland Islands in Scotland. It features a geometric pattern with colorful colors.

Once you have a prototype, we choose your favorite and decide which one is part of the new collection.

Our knitware and accessories are all woven in Scotland. The "YOKE Sweater" is very special, so it is made in a traditional factory in the northeastern part of Scotland, but other sweaters, scarves, hats, and arm warmers are in dandy. It is made at a micronnit factory (The Knit SHOP).

"The Knit SHOP" was launched in 2021, and now a small team consisting of local Dandy staff is working. First, write a program (knitting diagram) for each design. I will knit it with SHIMA ( *), an industrial knitting machine. After that, it will be completed after connecting, washing and press.

* SHIMA (Shima Seiki Manufacturing)
A global Japanese manufacturer that manufactures professional knitting machines.

● Why use lamb wool?

I have been using lamb wool thread since I started making knit creatures as much as possible to stick to natural fibers. Wool is a very versatile material that is very useful. You can dye any color and knit any pattern. Not only surprisingly soft, durable, environmentally friendly, it is a really strange material. It is a really wonderful material.
