ABOUT Lisa Larson
About Lisa Larson
Proofile
Swedish potter. She is now 90 years old. After graduating from college, she joined Gustavsberg, the largest pottery production company in Sweden. She created works such as the animal series and became a popular pottery designer in Sweden. After leaving the company in 1979, she was active as a free designer and established Keramik Studion in 1992. Her simple, warm and expressive pottery is loved by many fans not only in Sweden and Japan, but also around the world.
Natural body production activities
"When I visited Lisa's summer house, I saw Lisa working at a small desk on the second floor. Gentle light from the window and gently wrapped a small cat in my hand, gently wrapping pottery. The scene was very calm and gentle.
Lisa as a leader in collaboration
Lisa is different from other writers that can design pottery in consideration of mass production methods so that craftsmen make it easier for craftsmen. I am proud. She knew about the manufacturing process of pottery because Lisa was a signboard artist of Gustavsberg, which built the golden age of Swedish pottery.
Until the pottery is born and arrives
Chance ideas
She says she calms down when she touches the soil. She still makes the prototype of all her pottery on her own. When the prototype is completed, she creates a type for production. She will give Lisa specifically to the type craftsman and complete it. Anyway, Lisa's instructions are always concrete. After that, she leaves Lisa's hand and begins to mass -produce. Even if you say mass production, each one except to use the type is handicraft. The type itself has a limited durability of one type, so it will always be recreated.
Make with trusted craftsmen
All Swedish Lisa's work is made in the Keramic Studio. This studio was established by Lisa Larson, independent of Gustavsberg, in 1992 with two assistants (now Lisa is away from her management, and her second -generation owner is deeply dipped). 。 The skilled craftsman teams are producing while maintaining the quality and traditional methods while maintaining the goodness of Lisa Larson's work.
And to Japan
Completed pottery is inspected and shipped to Japan. The pottery in a tonkachi warehouse is welcomed with the staff's cheers there and checks for cracking or scratching. At this time, you can always find something that is damaged, which can be said to be the fate of a crack called pottery. After this long voyage, only the lucky pottery that arrived at Japan safely will be delivered to everyone in Japan.

The beginning, hedgehog
The roots of Lisa Larson and Tonkachi are the hedgehog produced by this tonkachi. Without this, Mikey would not have been born, and Lisa Larson would not have developed in Japan. "Hedgehog 3 Brothers" is a special pottery only in Japan all over the world.
Episode from Tonkachi
One day, Lisa sent a wide variety of hedgehogs. The form and color vary. I asked for production, but this was the result of Lisa's imagination and continuing to make it. She was a person who couldn't stop with Nor. You can't choose one from here. So the hedgehog, which was planned to be one, suddenly became a hedgehog of the three brothers.

The lion cannot be removed!
Lisa Larson's masterpiece "Lion". The Africa series designed in 1964. It features a round form with a colon, with gentle eyes and smiling mouths, lions who can feel kind just by looking at them, from children to adults, can only be removed!
Episode from Tonkachi
Lisa Larson for the first time is a lion that I got from her birthday present. When I talk about Lisa's pottery, she always talks about the lion, but every time she explains her shape, she is impressed every time. Her hind legs are not integrated with her ass. For Lisa, it is interesting that there is no hind legs or not. But this is an unmistakable lion, and when I saw this lion, I thought I first saw the lion's heart.
I have come across Lisa's pottery as a job from the beginning. The first encounter was that the designer saw the lion pottery. At that time, this person can't fit in the Scandinavian design frame. I put it deep in the Japanese heart and it looks like Osamu Tezuka. I thought. I feel for the first time that the cute is sad. I still think that is the secret of Lisa's popularity.
Three rats between tea rooms!
"Three mouse" has been very popular since it was introduced on TV. Just put it on the table and it's cute and cute. It looks like you're saying, "Welcome." If you wrap it with both hands, you can feel kind.
Episode from Tonkachi
Every year, we make a zodiac. This year, two types of rats were born, what made in Japan and what Sweden made in Sweden. This is a Swedish rat, but it is a work that has changed a lot since I saw it for the first time. I think Lisa's feelings have changed. Anyway, it was introduced on TV and had a great response, and it was a work that had been out of stock. I'm now calling a TV star.
Mia, a representative work of a cat
The reprinted version of the 1965 Stora Zoo series KATT (MIA). It is a popular series with abundant variations. Miamini is an affordable size, original color Brown, Gray, Black, White, especially Mia's mini gold series. It is dressed up with a delicate gold glaze.
Episode from Tonkachi
Since I was a child, my mother had Mia's medium gray. She was always on the top of her shelves and was often said, "Because it's pottery, don't touch it!" Still at home, it looks like a charm. I thought it was amazing that my mother bought it many decades ago, but it was still popular in 2020. And now I'm dealing with it! miracle! (Born in New Zealand)
I got Mia with a gift from a friend. My friend went to Lisa's exhibition and bought it. It was in a small handmade box of a friend and it wasn't a normal package, so I thought I bought it at a flea market (I'm sorry, laughs). I was very happy because I liked cats. I'm working on Lisa right now, so this is also the edge. (Born in Taiwan)
Vases wearing flowers, wardrobe
The "Wardrobe Series" of a vase created in the 1990s. Clothes are made as motifs. Lisa came up with this work after seeing the women waiting for her bus. Any flower has a sophisticated atmosphere.
Episode from Tonkachi
I bought it as a gift for a friend. Speaking of Lisa, it was an image of a round and cute animal, but the wardrobe series looked like a person, not just cute, but it felt like a new side of Lisa, and personally. It is also a very attractive series. It was perfect for the image of a stylish and slightly mysterious friend. I remember chosen as if you were choosing which one would look good.
The first Lisa Larson is a blue base dress. (At that time, the blue glaze was a bit more mottled and it was a work of a matte glaze that was not as shiny as it is now.) More than 10 years ago, Lisa Larson alone, the last day of Popup SHOP, the last day of Popup SHOP. I purchased it as a birthday gift for my favorite mother. She was the first vase she was in her twenties. The Popup SHOP was my first job.
The blue dress looks really fashionable and I still remember the joy of purchasing. It is still decorated with her parents' house.
When she went on a trip to Sweden, she visited the factory and met Lisa's pottery, but she couldn't buy it without money. When she came back from a trip and went to a store in Shibuya for the first time, she happened to have an outlet sale, and the cheapest was the cracked dress. I really wanted a cat or a lion, but I just wanted a "Lisa Larson pottery" so I bought it. I finally bought it, and I was a little excited. When I took it home, I didn't think cats and lions were better. If there is a crack and a lot of water is added, it will leak water, but it also became a favorite place.
The following year, I bought the same dress white as a gift. Of course it is new!
White masterpiece, Polar Bear
"Polar Bear" in the "SKANSEN" series. The motifs are made of animals living in the world's first outdoor museum "Scansen" in Sweden. A pollar bear with a smile that looks like a smile somewhere. It is cute even if you line up with mini and medium, parent and child.
Episode from Tonkachi
I thought for the first time when I came across this work that I like white bears. After that, I knew I liked all white things and began to collect white things. Lisa's white bear made the kick. Looking at this kind, the magnificent appearance, I think I have to live without worrying about the details. It looks like a mentor for meIt's a bear.
Healing, seals
"Polar Bear" in the "SKANSEN" series. The motifs are made of animals living in the world's first outdoor museum "Scansen" in Sweden. A pollar bear with a smile that looks like a smile somewhere. It is cute even if you line up with mini and medium, parent and child.
Episode from Tonkachi
"White seal" was selected as a gift for seniors in my life, which is taking care of my family. "Why did you know why you like this? It's really nice!" It is a gift for older people who are always worried, but what is good next to this success? I'm already worried!
Completion of cat, mans
"Mands" is a work that can be said to be "one of the finished form of a cat" by Lisa Larson, who has made many cat pottery. There are three sizes and plenty of color variations. The first attraction is that each face is different. Even with the same brown, some children are brown to the feet, and only the feet and tails.
Episode from Tonkachi
I started working at Lisa Larson's directly managed store, so I was surrounded by Lisa's pottery every day, so I wanted any pottery and bought "White Gray Mands". The share house where she lived at the time was really small, there was almost no place to put her own, and the private space was on the bed only. I inevitably chose a small pottery. After Man's comes home, I have to make a storage place! I attached a shelf to the wall next to the bed. It was a small and old room, but it was cute that the man's was on the shelf. Now that you have moved to a new room, you are also a lion, bulltereria and skirt vase!
Boat in the port town where pottery is born
"Gustavsbeli" is a historic port town with a workshop where Lisa Larson's pottery is made. This work was made with a boat across it. Since the shell part can be removed, it can be used as a accessory case or a candle holder.
Episode from Tonkachi
When I first went to see Lisa, she stayed at an old small hotel right next to the workshop. Immediately after entering the hotel, she noticed that there was a boat at the front desk. The unique and gently shaking soft flame wraps around the dim, and I realized that this is the city of Lisa Larson, and near the sea. The light of the boat calmed down as if it would take off my luggage from my heart. And when I thought I would meet such a wonderful thing, I was thrilled this time, and the flame of the boat look like my cheering squad.
Mikey's father
Cats that Tonkachi and Lisa wanted to make all the time, "Mikey's Daddy Max". Based on the representative vintage "Stora Zoo Cat" created in the late 1950s, Lisa himself designed again, thinking of a cat that lives in the near future of the 2020s. 。 Unlike the Mikey's Sima pattern, the quaint shima pattern is handmade by Sweden craftsmen one by one. I feel relieved somewhere in the expression that looks like a dad and gently watches.
Episode from Tonkachi
When we were shown "Stora Zoo CAT", we did not miss the words that Lisa casually said, "This child is a Mikey daddy." Since then, I have wanted to make this child someday. However, when you can do the work, the fact that the power and the edge of the coincidence are really large, and you often can't make it even if you want to make it. So was this work. Since then, the story of this work has emerged and flows, and has been repeated. So, when it was completed, was it really possible? I was skeptical. We learned from this child that everything that was born was a tremendous coincidence and tremendous lucky. In other words, I was told to be a little humble.
Lisa Larson× TONKACHI
For tonkachi
"First Lisa Larson"
The kick of the encounter between Tonkachi and Lisa is the camera. A company with the predecessor of Tonkachi was making a camera and looking for an artist to shoot with that camera. And it's not a photographer, but a person who has no connection in the photos as much as possible. But neither the work nor the person is an interesting person. So the designer Sasaki recommended Lisa Larson to recommend "this person!"
We wrote a letter immediately while being excited. Lisa said, "I'm a pottery writer, but I got a request from Japan!" She was pleased with our offer. She was pleased with something new, she was a very good artist! The camera we handed to Lisa is a hedgehog camera. From there, various things begin, and eventually a pottery work that becomes the "hedgehog three brothers" is born. Before that, Tonkachi's designer Sasaki made a picture book inspired by Goffstein called "I and Hedgehog". Looking at it, Lisa says we are thinking the same. Everything is connected. The special relationship between Tonkachi and Lisa Larson started that way.
As introduced here, we have met Lisa Larson's work at each timing. I realized again that there were special encounters as the number of pottery that was safe to be delivered to everyone after entering Japan. And since the pottery is greeted by your house, it will continue to look at its history. It's like a recorder without a record.
Pottery can exist forever, but it is also fragile that can easily break if dropped. Isn't this eternal and fragile living together attractive to us? I hope that a new encounter will begin here.
