[About the work]
"I have devised the shape of the fox. All the lines are smooth and soft. I like quiet, wild animals, and they are. There's something gentle, pure and honest that I'm looking for. I want to reveal that." (Clemontine)
[From the staff]
The white fox stands sniffing, staring at the world with a tinge of falling
These small series were commissioned by Tonkachi to coincide with Clemontine's first solo exhibition in Japan. We've remade the cast members from her recent works in smaller sizes (we call this fairy size). The change in size of the work brings out her happy humor and innocent friendlyness to the forefront, making her an extremely fun and cute piece of work. It delivers this small set of pieces, like a small guide who invites you into the vast forest, or a seasonal appetizer before an authentic dinner. *Clémentine de ChabaneixAs Tonkachi's new artist affiliated with the company, he will be holding Japan's first solo exhibition in September 2022 at the gallery "Nosauri" (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).
[About the author]
Clémentine de Chabaneix(Clémentine de Chabaneix) Clémentine de Chabaneixwas born in 1972 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris. His parents are actors, and his grandparents are world-renowned sculptors Claude Laranne and François Xavier Laranne. Her career began with theater, then studied drawing, painting and sculpture before switching to ceramics. He has arrived at his own unique way of expressing himself, inheriting techniques from his grandmother, Claude Laranne. "Her work is filled with signs of evoking something, like a dream that cannot be recorded, or a memory before birth that cannot be reproduced. It is always close to the fragility of human beings. Clemontine's The work continues to shake up what he sees, reminding him of the joy and fear he felt as a child with no reason."
