[About the product]
Lisa LarsonThis is a Hasami-yaki chopstick rest designed based on the Chinese zodiac. Please use it not only for New Year's Day and celebrations, but also for your daily dining table. It is handmade in the same Hasami ware workshop as Kokoro Shizuka no Uma.
[About the design]
In addition to the two colors "yellow" and "light blue" inspired by the Swedish flag, we created a "red" variation inspired by the red roofs of houses often seen in Sweden.
The body of the horse features the traditional Swedish Krivitz pattern. The motifs are flowers, plants, leaves, ivy, etc., and are also used for the horses of the original Dalarna.
I wanted to make the zodiac figurines smaller and use them as chopstick rests, but each one had a different shape and orientation, so I spent a lot of time trying out different shapes. In the end, we settled on a semi-solid shape with a flat bottom, but since the surface was uneven, there were times when there was no place for the chopsticks to rest properly, and the chopsticks rolled easily... After detailed adjustments with the pottery manufacturer, we finally achieved the shape we are proud of.
