[About the product]
A seal born from oyster shells
The "Seal Mini" has a smooth texture and charming look, and has been reborn as a Japanese-made work using the technique of solidifying powdered oyster shells from "Mortar Magic" in Tottori Prefecture.
The seal was one of the reprints of the Swedish zoo series SKANSEN, which was created between 1977 and 1983. "SKANSEN" is an outdoor museum founded in 1891 on the island of Stockholm, and is made with the motif of animals living in the zoo inside it.
Lisa LarsonThe TOTTORINO series continues the ideas of sustainableness that are thought of. This work is made by reusing "Hiroshima oyster shells," which are normally discarded, and is friendly to the natural environment, people, and the future. Lisa herself agrees with this interesting project.
*This product is made from crushed oyster shells from Hiroshima Prefecture as the raw materials. It was made using Mortar Magic's unique technology, which solidifies powder.
[About design]
This work has a natural and matte texture, while still retaining the simple and adorable look of the base seal. It is made by crushing the shells into small pieces, but the feel of the touch is smooth and smooth. It doesn't feel like reused oysters are reused at all, and its appearance feels like ceramic. Lisa's masterpieces have been completed as a new work through collaboration with modern technology. When you line it up with the original, you can enjoy the difference in texture.
[From the staff]
"Made from oyster shells"A white dogThis seal, which follows ", is most attractive because it fits in your hand and its texture that makes you want to hold it in your hand forever. This expression and feel is extremely soothing.
It uses oyster shells from Hiroshima Prefecture, but since it is produced in Tottori Prefecture, it is called "Tottorino." I hope that they will become a bridge between Lisa and Tottori, Sweden and Japan.
[About the production company]
Mortar Magic is a company located in Tottori Prefecture. They thought that there would be something they could contribute to the local area, so they developed a technique to solidify sand and make figures. We also managed to solidify the material and make figures for pumice stones that have been washed ashore and volcanic ash, which are seriously a problem that people are struggling with. This is a company that is sure to keep an eye on even Tonkachi, which solves problems by making effective use of the natural materials of hated people.
