[About this book]

The turbulent 1970s, when talking about music was to express and act. Legendary Rock critic Leicester Bangsian, a legendary lock critic, lived in the middle of that,Japan's first book. Until one, one of the worse, a man with a bad cue created "literature as a literature / literature as a rock and roll"!

"Leicester Bangs Legendary Rock critic, its words and lives (original title: Let It Blurt)" is a legendary man's life, from a repressed childhood to a rock critic and a sudden death. It is a record that follows. Translation is said to be impossible, its unique expression, passion for unmatched music, aggressive but crying, reveals the painful charm.

Even now, more than 40 years after his death, Leicester Bangs has remained in the memories of people as a seriously wounded hero who really confronted music. What I touched on was something that changed before that, as I touched on real music, real literature, and real youth.

An impossible rock critic who defines "punk rock" and "heavy metal" and has poured the same love and hatred in both praise and criticism. In English -speaking countries, his criticism style is recognized as one point, but in Japan has never published books and has hardly been known. This book is the first to fill the gap. The publisher will continue to publish Leicester Bangs' criticism.

[About Leicester Bangs]

Leicester's career began in college, applying for a project to recruit album reviews by readers of the magazine Rolling Stone. His self -taught words and extremely sharp sentences gained popularity and established a niche status in Rolling Stones. He continued his writing on a rolling stone until he was fired in 1973 because he was fired because he insulted the musician.

Later, in the contributed magazine "Creem", noisy and steep criticism did not stop.At one point, during the concert of the American rock band, J. Guils Band, he climbed the typewriter to the stage, beat the rhythm while watching the audience, and performed live with criticism. FContributes to various publications such as US, Playboy, Penthouse, New Musical Express, PhoneGraph Record Magazine, and Village Voice. In 1982, he closed his life at the age of 33, caused by overdose of drugs.

In 2000, the movie "Penny Rain with" is now a death of Philip Seymour HoffmanThe role of Leicester BangsWas played. Band that represents New York Punk Ramones andIt is also described as the most important band in the worldREM's Michael Stype sings his name in the song with his affection, and writer David Foster Wallace dedicated his first co -author, Signnefining Rapper. This book is the source of the New York Public Theater's performance "How to BE A ROCK CRITIC".

[About Jim Delogatis (author)]

Born in 1964. An American music critic, journalist, and associate professor of university. He is the world's only rock and roll talk show, Radio Sound Opinon. He has contributed as a pop music critic in Chicago Santime's paper for 15 years.

He was a drummer and has been in numerous indie rock bands since the early 1980s. The current punk trio, Voltis, has been active since 2000, and has released his seventh album, "This Machine Kills Fascists," (now on sale from Cavetone Records, streaming on Spotify). He is like LeicesterDuring Rolling Stone Magazine, he was fired because he wrote negative criticismThere is.

When he was a high school student who was a journalist, Leicester was the one who chose an interview with the challenge of "interviewing his hero." After a high school student's question, "What is an excellent rock and roll?", Leicester has been silent for a while, and says, "It's not a rock, a movie or a sentence. It's how to deal with things. Life. It is a way to penetrate. " He signs his own book on his own book, whose discounted shards offered by a high school student were still posted. "To the gym is your turn. Do your best. Leicester." This is the trigger for writing this book. It was two weeks before Leicester died.
