[About design]
The animals of the zodiac signs are arranged in east, west, north, and south directions, and are decorated with seasonal motifs as the background. It is based on the sketches left by Lisa. The "Taikyokuzu" played by Yona the Whale symbolizes the harmony of yin and yang, meaning that opposing things complement each other. The traditional pattern "Seigaiha" spreads out, focusing on Yona. The Qingkai waves symbolize everyday life as calm and stable as the ocean. This is an auspicious pattern that wishes for endless happiness and harmony.

Where the Zodiac Signs are born, Nagasaki Prefecture
Hasami ware
Hasami ware is a traditional pottery with a history of over 400 years, baked in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture. Hasami Town is an area with three essential conditions for the production of pottery: fuel (woods), water (small rivers), and soil (cera stone), and is an environment that is very suitable for ceramics. It features a deep flavor of "bleaching" painted with transparent "white porcelain" and "blue indigo pigment."
Because it is light, durable, and suitable for everyday use, it has been useful as a tableware for everyday use such as tea bowls, plates, and mugs.
Until the Zodiac Signs are formed
As soon as Lisa's prototype arrives from Sweden, we will pack it carefully into a workshop in Hasami and send it to us. At the workshop, we immediately take the prototype and make resin samples. Lisa checks the sample and makes minor modifications. Once the corrections are accepted, we will make a mold for mass production and start production.
Pour the dough into the mold and let it dry. Then, remove from the mold and bake in a hot kettle. Once it's out of the kettle, it's time to paint.
Painting is a technique called "copper plate painting." First, the design is carved into a copper plate. The process involves injecting fine lines and patterns into a copper plate, just like a stamp. Then apply the ink thoroughly to this engraved area.
Next, press the washi paper against the copper plate with ink to transfer the ink. ("Transfer Sheet") This time, this transfer sheet is carefully attached to the surface of an unglazed ceramic, and the image is captured on the washi paper. The detailed process is done by hand, and only experienced craftsmen can maintain quality and speed.
Finally, by baking ceramics in a kiln, the design is firmly burned into ceramics, creating a delicate design. Depending on how you apply the ink and how you apply the washi paper, there will be slight differences between the pieces.
From Tonkachi to everyone
We ran with Lisa for 12 years, transferring animals.
There were wild boars, scary tigers, mice that weren't allowed to ride, and various animals, but once they left, they were unable to withdraw from the relay. Just as I was thinking about quitting, I saw a hard-working rabbit turning around the corner of the mountain over there. Every year I had to somehow get on it and head to the next spot. Looking back, it was just fun. It was 12 years since I was so passionate about it. It's not a big deal, but for usJapanIt was 12 years like I've lived a life of old stories.
Lisa was amazing. It's hard to say that this is how she worked, and she can't say that she's the only way she could spend the rest of her life. Lisa has acknowledged us and has given us confidence. In the Zodiac series, they spent 12 years together in Lisa's final years. They walked together, rode bikes, and sometimes they rested on the hill for lunch. His kindness and harshness towards his work are nothing more than to call him a blessing. This zodiac series was completed once it was all in one species, but it was not over. ・All handmade by craftsmen. Its distinctive feature is that each item has a different degree of fading and bleeding.
- The bean plates can be used in a dishwasher or microwave. We do not recommend using a dishwasher as the paint may peel off of chopstick rests.
[Honmatsu Do's amulet bag]
-All are handmade by dyed craftsmen.
- We do not recommend washing as it may fade.
We do not recommend this product as there is a possibility of color fading or color transfer on both the string and the main body. Additionally, the use of detergents may damage the texture of the handmade work.
If you really want to wash it, be sure to remove the string.
-Since each piece is handmade using traditional woven fabric, there may be slight individual differences in size. Thank you for your understanding.
