Lisa cat from Japan (No. 4, Mashiko)
I am Mashiko's Lisa cat. The name is "Awaseyu".
The stray cats that travel around the country, ``Nippon's Lisa Cats,'' numbers 2 to 4 are three types of tabby cats created in Mashiko.
A combination of four traditional glazes. In addition to black glaze and candy glaze, we have mixed four colors: ``Celadon glaze,'' which has a cute dull blue color, and ``Nukashiro glaze,'' which has a plump white color.

The three types of tabby cats, numbers 2 to 4, are lively and lively stray cats with a different charm from the number one cat (this one has no name!).

Lisa's cat made in Japan
Lisa really, really loved Japanese pottery!
Lisa loved Japanese pottery so much that no matter how big, big, big, big it was, it was never enough. That's why the idea of having Lisa's work made in potteries across Japan was in my mind from the very beginning when I started working with her. At first, it was a dream story that came out as a routine at the end of a conversation. As time passed, it became no longer a dream, but a plan that I absolutely wanted to realize.
We will introduce you to the details on Lisa Cat's special website.

There is no real cat with the same color as the Awaseyu, but since it resembles the Tobisanko, which has a predominantly white color, it may have a nervous and capricious but affectionate personality.

Each piece is painted by a craftsman in Mashiko, so there are individual differences in the size and shape of the tabby pattern. Please enjoy the uneven spots as part of the child's individuality. By varying the size of the tabby, we have created a natural design that is close to a real cat. In addition, there may be some penetration, but please enjoy it as a natural texture of pottery.

These three cats are the result of an idea for tabby cats that came from the Mashiko ware production team when they were producing Nippon no Lisa Cat (Ichiban, Mashiko). We experimented with various patterns, including the size of the tabby, the pattern of the socks, and the color of the tail, and in the end, three types of stray cats were created. These cats are different from the most popular cats, and you can enjoy their traditions and individuality.

It is 13.5 cm long and 8 cm high, so it feels like this size when placed in the palm of your hand. This free-spirited cat looks like a real stray cat when placed casually on your desk or shelf.

From the staff
Of the three types of cats in the second series, this is the greediest four-colored cat. It's a combination of colors that doesn't exist, but it feels like an evolution of a calico cat. The celadon glaze creates a refreshing color combination. All of them are cute, so I would love to get all three of them! (Staff M)
We received a lot of feedback on the first Lisa cat, so I hope that many people will love the second to fourth cats as well. Lisa Cat is traveling all over the country, and she is also working on new works in new places! stay tuned! (S in charge of production)
Mashiko ware andLisa Larson
In the first place, this project would not have been born without my encounter with Mashiko ware. One day in the 1950s, Lisa visited Japan and met Shoji Hamada, a living national treasure who popularized Mashiko ware, and learned about Japanese pottery. Since then, Lisa has maintained a strong interest in Japanese culture, and we have been working on various products in Mashiko since our early days.
In addition to the already standard Mashiko-style flat plates and teacups, ``Nippon no Hedgehog'' is a blend of Mashiko and Swedish styles. ”, “JapaneseLisa LarsonWe have created this together. Because of this connection, we decided to ask for the most important top runners and the second three cats for ``Nippon no Lisa Cat''.

Mashiko ware
Pottery produced around Mashiko-cho, Haga-gun, Tochigi Prefecture. Mashiko is said to be a mecca for modern ceramic art. In 1924, Shoji Hamada settled here and built a pottery kiln, which attracted attention not only in Japan but also in the world of pottery. The glaze is made from stone powder or old iron powder, and the coloring is done using dog hair brushes, giving it a distinctive deep color and smooth texture.
