With the sale of the enamel series that Noda enamel and Marianne collaborated was sold.

I asked Marianne with her representative motifs, "wave", "rose", and "check".

About waves

Tonkachi
What kind of waves do you like? What if the big and small waves?

Marianne
Well, I wonder if it's a small wave. A difficult question.

Tonkachi
What do you imagine when thinking about waves?

Marianne
After going to Australia, I started drawing waves. You can see the sea wherever you go in Australia. I love the sea. Even when I returned to Sweden, I opened an exhibition only on the sea.

Tonkachi
The waves you draw are Australian waves, not Swedish waves, right?

Marianne
Yeah, it may be an Australian wave. But I think all the waves are the same.

About roses

Tonkachi
Please tell me about your favorite flowers.

Marianne
I like geranium. Do you know geranium?

Tonkachi
I know. Where do you like it?

Marianne
I like colors. My favorite is a very bright pink guy. Traditionally, in Sweden, geranium is a deep connection to the house.

The influence of Karl Lazz, a great Swedish painter in the 19th century. His masterpieces are a series that depicts their lives, and the windowsills are always geranium. The flower was decorated with his wife's Karlin Larse, and she had a talent for interior coordination. She spread her geranium. So the old -fashioned house in Sweden has an image of geranium on the windowsill.

Tonkachi
Have you ever drawn geranium?

Marianne
I tried it. But it's very complicated and difficult to draw.

Tonkachi
You often draw roses, right?

Marianne
Yeah, I definitely draw roses well. It was a long time ago that I started drawing roses. There was a wrapping paper in a florist run by my father, and the pink rose pattern was wonderful on a bright yellow paper. I love it, and I drew it as a pottery motif. The roses are complicated and difficult, so I drew them in various ways and arrived at the simple roses now. Well, how about making wrapping paper with roses?

Tonkachi
Sounds good!

About checks

Tonkachi
Please tell me about the check.

Marianne
I like anything if you check it. In Sweden in the 1970s, checks were popular, and white and blue checks were used in cloth and furniture and various places.

The check of Bridget Bardo (actress) was also impressive. She was wearing a skirt with various colors. Pink or turquoise. The skirt of her check was very fresh and beautiful. Also, the check is also a pattern of a cloth that is often used by women, so it has a very connection with women.

I feel that Karlin Larse always had a check pattern. The check is always simple and nice.

After the interview

Her wave was Australian waves. The rose was a florist wrapping paper. And the memories of Bridget Baldeau to check. Personal and modest episodes lead to works beyond space and time. The charm of Marianne's work, an indescribable touch comes from here.
